Stephen Gets THE BOOT(tm)

Stephen asked really nicely for a bionic foot, but instead, he really got screwed. Meet Frankenfoot!

Today was his first post-surgery appointment with his surgeon and things are looking good. He is now the proud owner of 3 plates and 14 screws with which he can set off metal detectors for the rest of his life.  They removed his stitches (about 40 of them!) and cleaned up his incisions. It was pretty gory. Those patches of dried-up skin are what's left of his fracture blisters and they're also the reason his stitches are so wide - the surgeon had to space them out so as not to tear the fragile skin under the blisters.

The doctor did release him for a boot, so we got him fitted for that, but he is still 100% non-weight-bearing for another 4 weeks.  In better news: having the knee walker our friend Tara generously allowed us to borrow has allowed him to be able to load the dishwasher and do laundry!
